Gold Arcane Deck – What Would You Do?
Posted on: August 30, 201022 comments so far (is that a lot?)
I got a free gold arcane deck from Ellusionist a while ago and I still haven’t opened it. I thought about doing a contest but everyone on facebook and twitter was like “Keep it! Let it age and sell it on eBay for a little fortune!”
These cards are expensive, I guess I could trade it for a deck of Jerry’s Nuggets or two…
But I think I’ll do a contest, a card flouirishing contest. Maybe magic, I don’t know. And I think it should be a YouTube contest…
What would you do?
I need ideas so…

If you got a gold arcane deck for free when you ordered all your cool and expensive magic stuff at E, and want to throw it into the contest as some kind of sponsorship let me know and I’ll give you a call ;)

Posted on: August 29, 20105 comments so far (is that a lot?)

A lot of you guys have been asking me for a tutorial ever since you’ve seen what card flourishing is about in Starry Eyed. Here’s a basic flourish tutorial for you to get used to and exercise your hands with. If you have any problems with the move, do leave a comment below and I’ll try to get back to you.
EDIT: Sorry for the soft-ness of the audio. I didn’t realize it was so soft whilst editing.

This cut contains some intricate elements and unorthodox finger positions, which may make it quite confusing and tricky to learn at first.
But practice makes perfect =)

PAPERCUTS is a DVD showcasing and teaching Chris Hestnes’ repertoire of card flourishes, created and perfected over the past five years.
The DVD is shot by avid amateur film maker and freelance cinematographer Allan Hagen on professional camera/lighting equipment in spectacular locations in Trondheim, Norway.
Produced by Dan and Dave Buck with help and creative consulting from Jordan Lapping and Erik Jansson, Papercuts is a result of years of collaboration, starting with Allan and Chris working together, making short videos in and around their hometown, showcasing Chris’ flourishes and Allan’s cinematography.

On the way back to Canada from Indonesia, I stopped by Singapore for a night. The timing was perfect since David “Blanch” Pedersen was staying there for a week. I had a lot of fun and I’d like to thank the Singaporeans (Jaspas, Leon, Ambrose, Ling, and Kenneth) for taking the time to meet up with me :)

It’s true. Jaspas is back
There’s a lot of new editing techniques being tested in this video, and the idea of a flourishing MV is uncharted grounds. In the coming weeks and months I’ll be uploading movies that will not be mere videos, but experiences instead.
SUB, and get ready for one hell of a ride.
Edit: As of 15/8/2010, I have officially been announced as the champion of UCC2010. I would like to thank the United Cardists for hosting this great competition, the judges for taking the time and effort to look at all 56 videos (about 2 hours running time), the contestants for making the event so wonderful and exciting, and of course you the viewers without whom I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Winner of Dan and Dave’s PREQEL contest.
[Watch in HD]
The world is an opponent of our passions.
It is no surprise how time passes so fleetingly in our lives and how we take simple things like a deck of cards for granted but the paradox is that when we look a little deeper and exalt imagination, infinite possibilities abound.
“To see the world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.”
- William Blake

The idea for the video is as stated above.
I would like to thank the community for inspiring me through the videos they have contributed for the past few years. I would like to thank the people I had the honour of meeting up with on Saturdays, the regular so called “Singapore” gang of guys, you know who you are.
I would like to say that this video would not have been possible if not for the ideas I have gleaned from the community and it is this art that completes me as a person.
Without videos as a medium of thought exchange nothing in this art would have been possible and hence I would like to thank Dan and Dave, TheCuso.info, UnitedCardists as well as Theory 11 for organizing these contests that brings continuity and excitement to the community.
We hope you have enjoyed this video and if so then it has served its intended purpose of community contribution.
Enjoy.
[Ambrose]
Hey awesome people, sorry for the little hiatus from the flourishing scene. As I have not been actively producing videos for quite some time,
I saw the ‘Preqel’ contest as an opportunity for a comeback.
As for the video, I would say that it is a fast-paced video packed with synchronized moves. After all the hard work we’re pretty satisfied with the end product. Just so you know, we missed a night of sleep for the filming of the video.
Like what Ben had mentioned above, I would like to thank the individuals and communities like UnitedCardists, Theory 11, D&D and TheCuso for holding up contests and keeping the community alive.
Now, enjoy one and a half minute of your life

Alexander Marzok – Get up ! Take your mat and walk
Posted on: August 9, 20105 comments so far (is that a lot?)

filmed, performed, edited and played by Alexander Marzok
Credits:
Flourshing:
Dan and Dave , Kevin Ho
Music:
Nobue Uematsu
“Instruments” used:
Piano, Tambourine, percussion, a Cup
If you listen carefully you will notice after watching the video a few times that there are 4 “instruments” ( listed above) , yet you only see 3 of them in the video, I left out the percussion, because there was no space for it in the video , and the other instruments covered enough of the video. Poor little percussion
