***COURTESY OF ALLAN HAGEN***

I promised everyone that I would post the final Blackpool video here, and so here it is. It was a shock this morning; I hadn’t expected to find it finished already — but Allan has spent much of his free time playing with the video. I feel that was very kind of him, considering the little spare time he has. Happy Birthday, mate.

So without further ado, I present to you the final instalment of the trio; “BLACKPOOL 2008″. Despite the apparent mental-retardness, I hope you do have fun watching — it was certainly a great Convention. Thank you to all that attended and made it what it was! I’d also like to thank Dan and Dave Buck for allowing me to post this Clip Shift performance; very kind of them.

Enjoy,
Jordan Lapping

TheCuso’s Nebula Tutorial Released

Ok, finally i decided to release this move to the public.

I think it’s my best creation and though it might seem an easy and stupid cut it has a lot of potential.

Nebula is an utility move that it’s meant to be incorporated into more complex and elaborated flourishes.

As an elegant alternative to the swing cut it can also be used to divide the deck in two halves in the middle of your favourite one handed cuts routine.

I like to use it before making a smear fan in the right hand and a carnahan in the left to show a circle.

I know many people (includding my friends Jonas Haglund, Huron Low, TicaL and others) are using this move and have came up with fantastic variations and combos that might eventually be made public for you.

I had a hard time deciding if i should release this move or keep it for me and my friends but you know how i am and how i think, and for those of you that dont i’ll tell you…

I think this move has a lot of potential as i said so keeping it wouldn’t make our art progress in any way.

So here is my little gift for you to experiment.

I would like to see hundreds of video responses with your ideas upon this concept and of course i would like you to TAKE YOUR TIME to comment on what do you think about the move (what is nice and what is not…) so please stay away from saying: “nice”, “wow”, “great stuff” “thanks” “keep it up” kind of comments, PLEASE! :P

I want to thank everyone that watches my stuff, all my subscribers at youtube and specially in my blog (those of you that take me seriously :P), all my flourishing friends and the video editor who asked me to keep his name private.

Thanks a lot once again and enjoy!

I really liked this performance of “The Modern Ace Production” and it’s been a while since my last post about my friend Lee Asher.

The only thing i would change Donald is that you move your hand off the frame for a second and that kind of softens the impact. Do you agree?

Very nice job though and keep it up!

Joe Porper’s Classic card clip for Dan and Dave

Engineered by Joe Porper for Dan and Dave

cc1 Joe Porpers Classic card clip for Dan and Dave

“The original conception for the Card Clip came from Larry Jennings who “jokingly” brought up the idea to Joe Porper. Later Joe would go on to discover a piece of scrap material that just so happened to fit a deck of cards perfectly, à la, the birth of the Card Clip.

Pursuant to form and function, Dave and I set out to create a streamlined card clip that would be both useful and sleek. Our basis was the original clip inspired by Jennings. And with the help of Joe Porper, a master craftsman and engineer, we were able to create the most refined solution yet.

porper clip

The Classic Clip, exclusively at dananddave.com, is made out of the same anodized aluminum as the original, providing a light weight and durrable structure. The beveled edge has been reduced to a simple bend that hugs a deck perfectly, reducing the size and weight of the Original Card Clip. Joe Porper’s trademark signature has been placed on the inner spine of the clip, keeping the look and feel minimalist.”

Bone Ho – Hidden Underground Videos

Bone Ho started a treasure hunt kind of game like t11 ones with some hidden links to his videos at www.BoneHo.com scattered all around the site.

Check out Bone Ho’s Anaconda Dribble DVD

I watched two of them, the first one is called Xemchoi Trailer and it shows a flourishing routine with his live performance in a crowded pub and some reactions of the people. There are also some questions made by the spectators but they are in Viet so i couldn’t undersand them, but i promise it’s totally worthwatching.

bone ho

Bone Ho performed for XemChoi Community at famous rock Bar of Saigon ACOUSTIC. He’s made an amazing prediction following with Flourish Routine. Unbelievable Reactions!

The other one shows a signed card to sealed bottle inside a 6 bottles pack in a girls birthday party (i wish i had Bone Ho for my b-day party last Thursday…)

I found it absolutely magical.

bone ho

The people who witnessed this effect could not believe in their very eyes. The shocking thing just happened in front of them, the card they signed in the middle of the deck has now completely disappeared!

Go to his site and start jacking the source code and if you find more hidden links feel free to post them.

Just one little clue: User and Pass are the same word. It’s very easy!

What do you think about them?

bone ho

Bone Ho was born in the Southern part of Vietnam and grew up in a small family. Being motherless at only 4 months old, gave Bone Ho the strength to strive and to never stop at what he sets his mind on. Starting performing magic when he was 10 years old, the first trick that Bone Ho ever learnt was a penetration effect with 2 matchsticks. Bone Ho travelled abroad in 2001 and lived for 5 years in Singapore. Since then, he has met and performed to many artists all around the world, an experience that gave him the inspiration to forever stay with the art.

Check out Bone Ho’s Anaconda Dribble DVD

Bone Ho always has a dream to bring his magic closer to the people in the country of his own – Vietnam.
To make his dream come true, in 2007, Bone Ho went back to Vietnam and started traveling throughout the country, fulfilling his first chapter of a lifetime project called “I’mpossible”.

“Here is a neat tutorial for one of my table ace productions. This is my favorite table 4 card production and I was a bit reluctant to release it. But, (since I love you guys so much) and I felt I needed to add something to the community, here you go. Perform it well. And, depending on the response I get from this tutorial will determine whether I post more. So, please rate and comment.
Enjoy.”

“I mean, come on, tea or coffee?

Anyway, I decided to film something today, after not making a proper card video since “September” from..yes.. September last year.

I’ve been busy with other things, such as..making card videos. for other people, short films, music videos, all that stuff. With that being said, in here is some semi-original material for once, that made Kevin Ho say “Damn, nice stuff”. We all also know I just mentioned Kevin here because I think the fact that Kevin liked my video makes me awesome. He also complained about how I didn’t credit him for creating the universe and founding the world.

Obscenities, Hos and card moves aside, don’t expect anything particularly awesome from this, it just has a simple and nice, relaxed feel to it.
credits are in the video, and please don’t ask what the song is, because I made it, and if you still ask, I’ll point out what a moron you are for not checking the video description first. Then you’ll read this and feel like shit.

however, I do feel like getting a cup of tea.”

Here’s a nice Dan and Dave Buck‘s interview done by an icelander Tv.

They perform flourishes and tricks from the trilogy and some cool variations along the speak. Nothing very original but very smooth as expected.

Please leave comments and if there is any problem with this being at youtube just tell me and i’ll take it down.

“Allan’s dad travels alot and this time he went to Denmark. Since its easter Allan had no school and went with him, to visit me!!

Surprisingly enough, he brought his cam! Only with one purpose; to make you guys a great, fun and spicy video!

At first we wanted to film outside to give the video an urban like feel. But the weather made us change plans.
We decided not to make a video called “AH presents DB” but a video called “AH meets DB”. Which means that this is more of a session video mixed with some (hopefully) good looking moves.

Please don’t take all the lame jokes to seriously, we were just trying to be as spontaneous as possible!

We filmed for two days, he edited for two days and uploaded for two hours, and here it is! We hope you will enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!”

Copied what Dave wrote over at the Decknique forums, eheh..
Enjoy, you all!

PS: my card trick isn’t that impressive when you take into consideration that my jacket was there, on the ground, although out of view.

PPS: David WILL make a full video with Sofus one day.

Allan.

The other ten theories in magic

street magic

#1 Production:
Making someone or something appear. Examples are Appearing Cane, Appearing Candle, etc.

#2 Vanish:
Making someone or something disappear. Examples are Vanishing Cane, Vanishing Candle, etc.

#3 Transposition:
Making someone or something move magically to a different location. A variation of this can involve two objects exchanging places. This movement is normally invisible or covered from the audience’s view (An object moving by itself visibly would be a different effect). Examples are Card to Wallet, Ambitious Card, etc.

#4 Transformation:
Making someone or something to change appearance. This can be further divided into different variations, for example a color change would be something only changing color but still maintaining its shape (Color-changing Candle), whereas a sponge ball turning into a sponge square would be something changing shape but still maintaining its material. Lastly, an object can change entirely into another object, for example an apple changing to an orange.

#5 Multiplication:
Making someone or something appear repeatedly in succession. This is essentially a production but I consider this a separate effect because I think the repeated nature of this has quite a different effect on an audience as compared to a standard production routine where different things are being produced from a space that is too small to hold them. Some examples of this are Multiplying Billiard Balls, Multiplying Bottles, etc.

#6 Penetration:
Making someone or something pass through another person or object. Examples are all the solid through solid tricks.

#7 Restoration:
Restoring someone or something to the original condition after being cut or broken apart. Examples are Torn and Restored Newspaper, Sawing Through A Woman and most of the large stage illusions.

#8 Suspension:
Making someone or something remain suspended impossibly in mid-air. This can be perceived as a kind of magical balancing act as in the case of the Chair Suspension where the girl’s body still rests partially on the chair. Another variation is the Floating Carpet where the girl seems to be floating on a carpet entirely free of any support.

#9 Levitation:
Making someone or something float and move impossibly in mid-air. This looks quite similar to the Suspension effect, however I distinguish this as having a lot of independent movement and not just remaining in one spot in the air. Examples are The Floating Rose, Asrah Levitation, etc.

#10 Mentalism:
I use this as a catch-all category for all effects that seem to be performed by mind power, for example mind-reading, prediction, telekinesis and others. I will discuss this category further in another article.
