A lot of you guys have been asking me for a tutorial ever since you’ve seen what card flourishing is about in Starry Eyed. Here’s a basic flourish tutorial for you to get used to and exercise your hands with. If you have any problems with the move, do leave a comment below and I’ll try to get back to you.
EDIT: Sorry for the soft-ness of the audio. I didn’t realize it was so soft whilst editing.

On the way back to Canada from Indonesia, I stopped by Singapore for a night. The timing was perfect since David “Blanch” Pedersen was staying there for a week. I had a lot of fun and I’d like to thank the Singaporeans (Jaspas, Leon, Ambrose, Ling, and Kenneth) for taking the time to meet up with me :)

It’s true. Jaspas is back

There’s a lot of new editing techniques being tested in this video, and the idea of a flourishing MV is uncharted grounds. In the coming weeks and months I’ll be uploading movies that will not be mere videos, but experiences instead.

SUB, and get ready for one hell of a ride.

Edit: As of 15/8/2010, I have officially been announced as the champion of UCC2010. I would like to thank the United Cardists for hosting this great competition, the judges for taking the time and effort to look at all 56 videos (about 2 hours running time), the contestants for making the event so wonderful and exciting, and of course you the viewers without whom I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Jeffery Tong meets Jaspas, Leon and Claudia

When I heard that Jeffery Tong was coming down to Singapore for the weekend, I was pumped. I decided to call out the two other flourishers you see in the video, Leon and Claudia, and we went on to meet Jeffery. Turns out, Jeffery is not only an excellent flourisher and magician, but also a sweet sick dancer. (not to mention a fashion-holic)

Anyways, after shopping laughing crapping dancing and all that other stuffs we went to the roof of Shaw Towers to film the above video.

Singapore Card Flourishers – Previously Unseen!!!

Ahola all card netizens!

On the 26th April 2009, Jaspas Deck organised an informal card flourish battle-styled competition at the Esplanade Underground, of which me (Jaspas smooth-talked me in. =\), Leon, Kenneth Aidan (or more commonly known as Kafoosh) and Dave participated. The turnout for the event was amazingly well, amassing to over a dozen card handlers. It was certainly one of the largest card gathering I personally have witnessed in, arguably, years! Without a doubt, this generated a warm and fuzzy feeling within me. The competition itself was a fun one, and it was a humbling and enriching experience for me to flourish live once again.

Let’s jog back in time for a bit, shall we?

Earlier this year, Bone Ho returned back to Singapore for a short trip, and being us – Singaporeans who must have a mandatory card session every week, exploited this chance and met up with the man who spawned the whole flourish legacy in Singapore. Unexpectedly, Bone who usually dons a serious performer appearance is a complete different persona in real life, as you can see from his amazing rendition of the Snap Change from this video.

I should shut up.

However, the battle was postponed due to the presence of more significant priorities in life. So I guess I’ll share this now for your viewing purposes while I organize my plans to construct a much more superior video in the distant future…
