This time Aceking brings us a special offer for the “fancy fanning fans that want to have some fun”. (If you don’t get the joke go ask Sebastian Skowron and Dimitri).

I’m talking about the new TETRA deck. We sent a sample to our fanning expert and friend Nebelfuchs for a little overview, here is what he has to say

As the a numerical prefix suggests, it’s a 4 Way (poker size!) Fanning Deck that shows different colors depending on how you fan them.

It seems to be printed on regular bicycle stock with air cushion finish.
Most bicycle decks are good cards for fanning, and so is this one.
The quality seems to be alright. The colors are nice and vivid, the design centered and each card cleanly cut.

The deck comes with 4 bonus cards: 2 Jokers, 1 blank card (for totally blank blank fans!) and 1 additional ace of spades (not sure why they put that in).

The colors on the back design have been well selected and make cool patterns when fanned. The yellow/white quarter appears a little faint, a little more contrast would’ve been better (between the yellow and the white).

The only thing I personally dislike about this deck (and many other fanning decks) lies hidden within design, and only shows when the cards are fanned. Just quartering the back design and re-coloring it isn’t enough. If you, for example, make a broad pressure fan, you’ll have another color coming up at the outer edges at the end of the fan. While this probably isn’t a big deal to most people, it bothers me because it could easily be avoided with a simple, overlapping design (just like on the Dragon Fanning Deck). Maybe on the 2nd edition, MJM?

Overall a very nice deck that should be fun to use for fanning enthusiasts, as well as regular card handlers (that do fanning, lol). There aren’t many good, poker sized fanning decks out there, so this one is definitely worth the buy.

That auction sounds like a great opportunity for those who missed their chance to get one of the 100 copies first, be it because they haven’t been online for the past few months or just because they “didn’t qualify” to order it.

Along these years into cardistry I have discovered that most magicians and card guys have a little flaw in their brains that make them fall for any kind of HOAX specially if it’s seasoned with some “hype” powder.

If you are an average eBay user and lets say you want to buy a deck of Jerry’s Nuggets you would go to eBay and search for Jerry’s Nugget Cards or even Jerry’s Nugget Playing Cards.

If you were a more experienced user you would just type in Jerry’s Nugget or rather Jerry Nugget giving you more chances to find your desired auction.

But here is what professional eBay users do to find the real deals: Look for typos.

The next time that you go to eBay try the following:

Most of the times you won’t find any listed item with those keywords but trust me when I say it worked for me. All you need is time, patience and some hope for stupid people to sign up at eBay to sell their playing cards.

It will help if you check the “Worldwide” option, this way your chances to stumble upon these typos will increase dramatically, and remember that this works for any kind of product so be creative and never give up.

If you are not the kind of guy that likes to take risks then you might be interested in Lee Asher‘s next big thing. He is going to sell authentic Jerry’s Nugget decks in his online store. Some people thought they would never be reprinted again but Michael claims that he somehow managed to get a small lot of them in black color from the USPCC. Isn’t this against any copyright law?

I’m not sure if the stock and finish is the same as the original but i doubt it, though they seem to fan pretty much like the original ones…

As he said they’ll be sold at eBay in plastic boxes.
