Dan and Dave – Preqel Tutorial + Contest!

Preqel (yes, that’s the correct spelling) is the precursor to our Pandora flourish taught on The Trilogy DVD set. Both of them performed together make a remarkable piece of visual art.

Preqel, by itself, opens the doors to many applications and acts as a great foundation to create your own card flourish routines. Expect to see some neat alternate endings posted in the coming months. Finally, special thanks to Kevin Ho for creating several of the cardanical movements used throughout.

We offer this tutorial + contest to our fans as a way to say thanks for all your support. For more tutorials on Card Magic and Flourishes visit us at Dan and Dave.

Tim Burton Competition 1st place – Headsack

“If i was a stop-motion character…” I would vote this to be the winner.

What I really love about Tim Burton is his hability to create characters. I didn’t see a character like this in any other entry and Ndhikaa nailed it here. Great short film, nice funny headsack character, so much work put into it… And also really different to the videos that we are used to.

This competition was not going to be judged on moves or video quality. This is the video that best represents Tim Burton’s style in my opinion so you’ve just won 4 Tim Burton signature decks.

This was a really tough one Chotu. Your video is probably the best in terms of moves and card flourishing creativity but only if you mixed them with some storyline or something…

I don’t know, it’s really awesome but damn man show your face or something at least. You don’t get the prize this time but don’t worry. You are becoming one of my favourites and you know it.

This one has a nice stop motion intro and good video quality, the music was nice but it felt a bit short. Most of the moves are Dan and Dave’s and they are really smooth but it lacked something.

Hey guys, I got six decks of Tim Burton playing cards in the MoMA museum in New York. I thought I could give them away in a little contest…

But I want to keep a couple of them for me so I’m going to giveaway 4 decks and $20 via paypal so you can buy a few more. Sounds good?

All you have to do is make a card flourishing / xcm video with a Tim Burton feel. Can be the editing, your clothes, the flourishes you use… It’s up to you, but you have to give it that special Tim Burton style.

For those of you that don’t know who the guy is…

Timothy William “Tim” Burton (born August 25, 1958) is an American film director and producer who specializes in dark and quirky-themed films such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas, but has also produced cinema blockbusters, including Batman, Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland.

This is not a promo or anything, just want to give you guys something for free from my trip to NY, and hey, you rarely get payed directly for making a video so work you ass off and put the youtube link down here on the comment’s section.
