Tim Burton’s Card Flourishing Competition at .thecuso
Posted on: April 4, 201042 comments so far (is that a lot?)

Hey guys, I got six decks of Tim Burton playing cards in the MoMA museum in New York. I thought I could give them away in a little contest…
But I want to keep a couple of them for me so I’m going to giveaway 4 decks and $20 via paypal so you can buy a few more. Sounds good?
All you have to do is make a card flourishing / xcm video with a Tim Burton feel. Can be the editing, your clothes, the flourishes you use… It’s up to you, but you have to give it that special Tim Burton style.
For those of you that don’t know who the guy is…
Timothy William “Tim” Burton (born August 25, 1958) is an American film director and producer who specializes in dark and quirky-themed films such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas, but has also produced cinema blockbusters, including Batman, Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland.
This is not a promo or anything, just want to give you guys something for free from my trip to NY, and hey, you rarely get payed directly for making a video so work you ass off and put the youtube link down here on the comment’s section.
Deadline is Sunday, April 11.
You have a whole week.
I might post photos and videos of my trip to NYC on my twitter and facebook so go stalk me there if you want.
If you have any questions, leave a comment.
GOOD LUCK!

Free Arcane deck with your Porper Clip
Posted on: January 4, 2010No comments yet
Cool promotion from Arcane Playing Cards. For a limited time, order an Arcane Card Clip by Joe Porper with the special ace cutout and get a black arcane deck for free.
If you speak to Joe (call him, he’ll talk to you), you’ll realize he feels strongly about metal work.
Joe will talk your ear off about the metal you start with and how you conduct your project. Joe sees no point in doing it if it’s not going to be the best.
Joe implemented our idea for the cutout reveal so that the beautiful Arcane ace could bleed right through the metal. It’s wonderful.
Not only do you get a tough-as-nails, card straightening, card clip to keep your cards safe – but you get a clip that lets the ace shine right through the metal.
Magicians in many countries swear by Porper protective clips, so why not do some mighty fine swearing of your own? Order one, or both, today.

Carnahan & Dunes at the Smokin’ Aces 2 Trailer
Posted on: October 28, 20099 comments so far (is that a lot?)
Here is the trailer for the secuel of Smokin’ Aces, Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball
You can see Dan and/or Dave perform their famous carnahan fan flourish, wich by the way has that name because of Smokin’ Aces director Joe Carnahan, as a flashback from the first movie.
Later in the trailer we catch a glimpse at ribbon spread with what look to be the old Dunes Casino playing cards.
I’m not 100% sure about this but maybe you card guys can shed some light on this.
Here is the screenshot

What do you think?
Anyway, here is the plot:
Federal agents once again match wits with a cadre of creative killers in the high-octane feature-length film Smokin Aces 2: Assassins Ball. Walter Weed (Tom Berenger) is an unassuming desk jockey at the FBI when the Bureau uncovers a plot to assassinate him. A team of degenerate, psychotic assassins dispatched by mystery man Hal Leuco to win a huge bounty includes a resourceful beauty who has a unique method of killing her prey (Martha Higareda), a power-tool wielding psychopath (Vinnie Jones) and a deadly master of disguise (Tommy Flanagan). Also in the hunt is the fan-favorite Tremor family from the original film, featuring nymphomaniacal gun-nut (Autumn Reeser) and her lethal kinfolk (Maury Sterling, Michael Parks and C. Ernst Harth). Baker (Clayne Crawford), the agent in charge of the operation, puts himself and his team in the line of fire to defend Weed, but its not until the smoke clears on the films explosive climax that the surprising identity of the plots mastermind is revealed.

Joshua Jay’s Pro Carrier is my “new best friend forever”
Posted on: October 11, 20097 comments so far (is that a lot?)
I got this little thing when I met Joshua Jay, Jon Allen and Andi Gladwin at Magic Valongo 09 in Portugal a few weeks ago. It’s is probably one of my best buys of the year in terms of cards / magic stuff considering it will last longer than a thousand bricks of playing cards and won’t steal my precious time like those, also great, magic books I got from their company, although Card Fictions was slim enough to get on top of my remember the milk to-read list…
I never knew what to do with my old Michael Skinner’s Ultimate 3 Card Monte set. Now I keep it with me all the time.
Same with my jokers, double backers, duplicates, coins and business cards, but the best thing is that I can stuff a deck of cards with a card clip or even my beloved Porper on top off all that stuff.
I think everyone should have one, it’s a nice leather gadget to add to your personal collection.
Here is a little video of Josh that I’m sure will convince you if I haven’t already.
This is the way to transport your playing cards. Used by professionals all over the world and the best-selling and most heralded accessory of its kind, the Pro Carrier is a case for all your close-up items.
Not only does it have a pocket for your deck (with deck clamp if you like), but it has an exterior window for business cards and an interior window for your favorite packet trick. It has two additional storage pockets for extra cards or predictions, and a zippered coin purse that will store up to four half-dollars. It has loops for your belt or will fit comfortably in your pocket, and it is made of soft, fine leather.
This is the classiest way we know of to transport your cards and coins, and it’s available at an attractive price.
Get it with the Cardfolio bundle for just $40 and save $10, that’s an awesome
20% Discount

Sunday Cards – Bicycle Gold Seal by Richard Turner
Posted on: August 23, 20095 comments so far (is that a lot?)
It’s Sunday!
I hope you didn’t spend too much last night because I’d be sad if you happened let these go.
52 cards , 2 jokers + 1 blank face card with traditionl cut edges for superb handling, produced by Richard Turner, The Man Called “the Greatest Card Mechanic of all Time”.
Quality
Each deck of Gold Seal Bicycle Cards is constructed using Bee stock, world renowned for its flexibility, yet long-lasting durability. They are stamped to a caliper/thickness that facilitates classic moves like bottom and center dealing and are embossed to a depth that does not break down the structural integrity of the card, yet still allows each card to breathe properly, thereby reducing the gum-up and hangers often caused by finger moisture.
But, most importantly, since these cards were manufactured to Richard Turner’s demanding personal specifications, they are Traditionally Cut!The Process
Unlike most of the cards manufactured today, the cutting blade used in traditionally cut cards starts at the face of each card and punches through to its back. As a result, a sharp edge is created on the backside of each card and a rounded edge, which facilitates a flawless weave during each shuffle, is formed on the card’s face.
Traditionally cut cards ensure that card men and magicians can easily interlace the cards to produce crisp, clean shuffles, especially with some of the more intricate shuffling techniques like the one-handed shuffle, and the faro shuffle, both in-hand, and on the table.
For over 100 years traditional card cutting was the norm, but the process was changed about fifteen years ago. Casinos demand traditionally cut cards, and so does Richard Turner. Shouldn’t you?
If you demand the very best, be sure to look for the Gold Seal and gold label certifying that your deck is “Traditionally Cut for the Professional.”So, take it from a fan whose interest in quality playing cards was piqued four decades ago: a deck of Gold Seal Bicycle Cards simply feels right in the hand, shuffles flawlessly right out of the box, and will enhance the performance of professional magicians everywhere.
Sincerely,
Bruce T. Samboy
Gambling regulator and longtime playing card enthusiast
So here is the Sunday Cards’s deal…
