Cardmasterseth – Aesthetic

Ok. A little history lesson:
This footage is about a month old. It seriously took me about 3 solid weeks to make this look the way I wanted it too.

At first I approached this video with my usual smooth, flowing idea, and I rendered it> But there was something wrong, something missing from it. I decided to take another angle and try a pure black and white version of the video with a kind of classy pokertable look.

I liked how the first couple clips went, so I rolled with it. Now, after 3 weeks of toying with time, color, velocity, and space, that thing that was missing is gone.

Is the video perfect? No. Is there any way that I could impove it? Probably. But I feel pretty confident in saying that, up to this point, this is the best piece of art that I have ever created.

Its not about cards, or camerawork, or color. It’s about aesthetics.

Enjoy.

This video features card, ring, coin and pen manipulation basic moves that will make laymen wet their pants.

“This was first intended for and upload on another website, but it features 2 of my ring-on variations and a little hybrid combo manipulators can appreciate so… I figured I could upload it here without being too bashed :p”

Inspired by Lee Asher’s video where he talks about crediting in magic, I decided to use a similar format to say something that I’ve always wanted to say.

What do you think?

Ling Xuan – Deckromancy

In a bid to maximise time in the last week of my holidays, I made this video out of sheer impulse.

Deckromancy is a term that derived from one of my many “wordplay” musings; Deck – obviously, deck of cards and necromancy – divination to summon spirits. To play in line with the “necromancy” part, I chose to film this near some tombstones at Fort Canning Park. Which led to a queer incident after I stepped on a horizontal tomb slab, rain came pouring out of nowhere solely upon me and not the cameraman. The rain only stopped after I got off that tomb slab. =\ Sorry to whoever lying below that tomb!

Location of desekration located at Fort Canning Park, Singapore.
Fugue provided by Satyricon, entitled “The King of The Shadowthrone”.
Camerawork and assistance extended from Jordan and Ambrose.

Most of all, sorry for the disturbance, residents of those tombstones!

A video from late July by Conner McDonald. Awesome debut in the art.

I like black background videos focusing on the hands and the cards but i would add a face expression or a sign of distinction somewhere in it.
