Up and Coming #3: Chotu Singh from India
Posted on: February 8, 2010
“My name is Antariksh but most people know me by my nickname Chotu. I’m 19 and from India. I was into magic before but flourishing gripped me more so I shifted my gears last year .This video showcases what I have achieved till now and I hope you enjoy it.
Looking forward to your feedback on improvement – Chotu :D ”
I’ve chosen this video for the third Up and Coming entry because I was shocked when I saw this guy. He opened me a chat on facebook and said, “Hi i’m Chotu, check out my video, I’ve been flourishing for about a year now”. I was like, ok… let’s see (I have to do this like dozens of times every day so I wasn’t expecting it to be this good, seriously)
So I saw those super cool moves and told him, man, you are going to be in the next Up and Coming!
So yeah, congrats Chotu and I hope the guys here can give you some advice on how to spend your following years in this community. Welcome and thanks for your potential contributions ;)

Ah man, you know I love your work already, but this is definately your best yet.
The concepts where you use loose cards, packets or as you showed in this video, the entire deck, should really be pushed forward. They’re great now, but I think you’ve unlocked a little creative streak with that idea, and if you pursue it, you’ll be bringing out even more advanced moves using that particular theme/concept.
Pretty much everything was smooth, perhaps sometimes you looked a little tense, but that will go with time spent on the moves, and also relaxing in front of a camera is just something which passes with time. I know I suffer from sweaty hands a lot more once I start to film.
Keep it up, there’s so much potential, and so many amazing things developed for just one year. You have talent, that is clear, so just keep pushing further, so as not to waste one tiny shred of it!
All the best,
-David

my favorite up and coming so far!! I havent really heard of cardists in India, but you did great :) i love how smooth everything was, and along with the music, it really just went all together :) i suggest not cutting the clips to make an edit, such as the flourish at 00:51 and the one after that, because this implies you messed up, and it destracts from the original smooth effect the video was giving. This was amazing though, i saw great originality!

What you are doing is following your own path. Instead of copying others.
That is awesome Chotu. Keep it up, just you and your cards.

i really enjoyed the video overall, you have a very smooth style, and some of those moves were creative. but some (like the 3 packet diplay on your leg ?) were just meh, i think when you create somthing you have to ask yourself not just “is it new?” or “is it creative”, but also “is it impressive?”, “is it beautiful?”. anyway, really good video man, i’m sure your next vid is gonna be kickass :)
(maybe go for a little more variety..?)

some definitely cool ideas but still working on many of them it seems from the edits and such. definitely a good candidate for “up and coming” ! i liked the longitudinal stair-step display off the watch the most, reminded me of an andrei one-hand-display

Thanks a lot for the tips I’ll keep those in mind when making moves next time

the 1:06 part i don’t really get, but your speed for me is awesome already. not that kind of where the cards just blur off.. good work, great vid.

great job! looking forward to seeing more from you bro. Btw loved the first display

A lot of personality in this video.
New ideas and sick concepts, such as using a packet as a platform and move packets on top of it.
Great application of andrei’s one concept using your watch.
The triangle on your leg isn’t impressive, and I bet everyone has tried spinning a card on other surfaces…
Oh, and you have a really nice way of closing each display. So, overall, 5/5 from me, again because you show originality and improvement on classic moves and concepts. You’re not so much of a beginner to me…
