Digital Artist – De’vo’s Flipback Triad Tutorial
Posted on: June 16, 2008Marcos Pérez aka Digital Artist, a member of the handlordz community made this tutorial a while back and now it’s been posted at youtube so here it is for you guys.
I’ve never been a fan of the SSS (self standing sculptures) nor the HL style of flourishing or pure XCM but i’ve been changing my style lately and im drinking from all sources.
With this tutorial you will learn how to do a triangle sculpture on the back of your hand with a deck of playing cards using one hand only.
Currently i’ve developed a nice utility move to get a packet of cards onto the back of the hand lenght wise and you’ll hopefully see it in my upcoming videos.
The credit for this move goes to De’vo Vom Schattenreich of course, Handlordz and Superhandz leader.
The teaching is clear and the move is astounding. Five stars from me DA.

Digital Artist is a hardcore HL’er so de is cool with him releasing this.
It’s a fucking bad ass move and so fun because it’s a challenge, I spent 3 straight hours last night on it LOL only got it a couple of times though. I am terrible at SSS or regular sculptures like vierek also.

Fuck De’vo he is just trying to claim something that isn’t his this is just a variation on Andrei’s move.

The flipback position had been around since before any of us, even De’vo. The person who invents a position…such as the flipback position or dealers grip doesn’t claim everything that starts within that position. Hence the moves I do from the back of the hand can’t be claimed by De’vo just because it starts in that position. De’vo simply invented an efficient method to get into the position.
If what De’vo says is true about everything the flipback has to offer then none of the moves we create today would be ours because the guy who invented the dealer’s grip would be claiming everything..which is 90% of all Cardistry techniques.
I’m glad to see De’vo experimenting and making variations with my move, I hope he goes further with it and publishes some of my work. Thanks to my The’me and Quad Backpack video, this was all made possible. Thanks for the props Trashman, it is a great move indeed.

eh, it may be you’re trying to provoke a reaction and I’m taking the bait, but I don’t think de’vo is making variations on your move, and by the same token I don’t think you’re making variations on his.
the triangle and the square are hella different shapes and techniques and your starting positions are dissimilar enough in my opinion to count as a different category(lengthwise vs widthwise)
both you guys have invented this shit independently and both of you are fuckin badasses so I’m not sure why the hard feelings.
and … if you honestly believe that de’vo has never done back-of-the-hand-based structures before your the’me video got released, then that’s kind of a stretch… but I wont jump to conclusions from your last paragraph :-)

The triangle has been done in The’me and the square in the Quad Backpack videos. It’s pretty much an improbable coincidence that he had to release his variation right after the two videos. One would think that such a move would have at least been shown as a performance video sometime between 6 years ago and today.
I do mean variation when I say variation. I know you don’t honestly believe that switching the deck from vertical to horizontal or vice versa makes something completely different, that’s ridiculous.
You’re a level headed guy Trashman; however, when it comes to supporting HL/SH, your logic seems to fly out of the window.
