Andrei Jikh – Tournament Video (Aerials)

Posted on: March 24, 2008

“In addition to providing a place for people to post videos and discuss flourishes, the Handlordz forums were also the first to host a ‘battle’ section, where users could call each other out for a challenge.

The stipulations of each battle are not set in stone; the criteria and rules are made and agreed on by the challengers, and the winning video is usually decided by votes from forum users or a decision from a higher authority (usually the Handlordz forum staff.)

Starting in 2004, the tradition proved to be a very popular one, eventually resulting in the first Handlordz tournament, of which this video was a part of. In it, Andrei Jikh (then username ‘Moneys R Us’) was up against Mykal Seifers (then username ‘Seif’), with the category being Aerials, and criterion for judging being Smoothness, Creativity, Difficulty, Cool Factor, and Technique. (Side note: Andrei later on went to win the tournament.)

The concept of user-manufactured battles still continues to this day, many of which can be seen here:

i dont think its fair to blame me for this. You made the video public at youtube, you know i usually post up your stuff which i consider a great job. If you didnt want people to embed this video you could have just disabled the embeding function.

Im very sorry this happened, if you need help to upload your videos again or want me to host them myself in my server feel free to ask.

thanks for everything cardclassics and never give up.

you have my support for everything.

if you want to contact me use mail thecuso at gmail dot com.

    Hi Cuso,

Sorry if it came off like I was blaming you… when I meant ‘this’ post’ I was not referring to your blog post, I was referring to my upload of Andrei’s video. I completely support you posting my stuff, as it’s good exposure to get the history of this art known.

From the looks of it, Youtube might not be the best place to do this objectively… looks like I’ll have to find other sources. I’ll let you know when I’m back.

Cry bullshit. Superhandz/Handlordz has NO right to take down that video.

  5. cardclassic Says:

At any length it’s good exposure for their site, so there doesn’t seem to be any genuine reason to take those videos down besides them not wanting people to find out the true history of the online card community for them.

On my (former) Youtube page’s profile I explicitly state that if the authors of the videos have a problem with the videos being posted, all they have to do is contact me and I’d take it down immediately. The fact that Superhandz/Handlordz would rather go through the arduous process of filing a copyright complaint as opposed to sending a simple PM goes to show how ridiculous their stance on the matter is.

I’m currently uploading the videos to another site, which will hopefully respect how important it is that the history of this art be made clear instead of blindly taking in irrational complaints from an institution infamous for distorting the truth.

That’s ridiculous, SH/HL have no rights for that video. There was no contract ever stating that any videos submitted in the tournament were their property.

I guess if they want to waste their “precious” time filling out complaints then let them. I’m sure your videos will find a home that none can bother.

this is crazy .. i doubt that they have claim over this video after all this was Andrei’s video … here are a couple of links that can help you dispute this if you would like… on the first link the video talks about how to fight the disputes … just fast forward to about 2:24 into it… and the second link is a blog of the same guy from the video.

I got a message with a list of consequences of putting copyrighted material on youtube, but I was told that really nothing that much was going to happen except they were going to put ads next to my video and keep track of how many views I get. What is the point? This doesn’t really affect me, I don’t care if youtube tries to make money and not that many people watch my videos anyway. In fury, I deleted all my videos off youtube and I am looking for another site to migrate to. Metacafe?

Thanks De’vo, you’re the best in ruining everything.
