Hey guys stop sending me messages asking if I got your pic. I DID! =P
Im having some problems with the flickr uploader, it seems that there are some duplicated photos that i have to delete, tag and put into the album.
I’m doing my best to sort this out as soon as possible.
Some of you are still sending your pics to thecuso@gmail.com, I’m ok with that. It’s 5 mins past midnight here in Spain but i’ll be kind enough to let you submit until I wake up tomorrow.
Then I’ll start checking them all into more detail and take my judgements.
One thing… to see if you have read this post, drop a comment with the nickname you used for the competition and write a little line about your pic. It might help me decide tomorrow. Just a few words if you are lazy.
More info in some hours, good night!

I used olan (my picture was called delicous)
it’s called that way cuz I thought cards are as beautiful as any art, or skill as in cooking..
And I used that contrast of an old pie-”holder” and glass to illustrate that cards and card magic has always been around, only now is it becoming evermore popular. It used to hold beautiful pies, brownies and such, but never cards, that are in my opinion equally beautiful

my photo had i spiders web in it :D coolies. na but the only reason i did it was i wanted to get a good shot involving a spiders web and the cards seemed to bring out the web. so yeah.

I totally misunderstood the concept of talking ABOUT the picture. That was my bad. I’m tired. :)
I am going to be honest, and in all honesty, I simply wanted to have a cool looking card picture that I had in my mind so I decided to make it reality. By coincidence I found out about this contest when someone invited to that “Cards Pictures” group on flickr. So I thought to myself, I’ve been getting good feedback from random people, so why not enter a contest?

Hey guys,
My photo is the Ace of Broken Hearts. I’ll be honest with you, the photo wasn’t taken for this competition. It was actually Valentine’s day when I took the shot and did the editing..
I guess you should be able to understand what it means. I mean…me, valentine’s day, broken heart. :P

I didn’t name my photo on the email… I guess it doesn’t have a name. Anyway, I really liked my photo (the one with the seven of hearts in the ruins) because it wasn’t photoshoped or anything, and because I took hundreds of photos at those ruins but then I got a card out of the box and threw it and shot a single photo of it, at the exact place where it fell , and that was the one I liked the most.

My pic combines two of my favourite things: cards and contact juggling. A small portion of my acrylic ball collection wrapped around one of my favourite deck’s ace. :) My sister used some of my “props” for hers as well.

My submission is the one where the blue TH9s are arrayed in a symmetrical manner amidst a black background.
Taken long time ago back in April/May 2007 when I was bored.
If you are wondering, the picture required little editting. The symmetrical effect was achieved by using a mirror to reflect one side of the image. It was fun to play around with mirrors and cards. Try it!

I made the shattered Ace of Spades suspended above a hand. I can actually do this, so I didn’t need to use photoshop at all……. I swear…… Okay, maybe a little photoshop was used.

High guys,
my picture (the Golden Nugget) is a lil’ bit too dark I guess and it doesn’t gets my self in the right mood, but – it fit’s perfect to the weather over here xD cause it’s damn ugly out there! First I thought of a line like “sometimes – you can find ‘em on another place than ebay” but quiet too long aaand maybe I will make some for fun.
About the picture of my friend Patrick K.(he is actually a real person xD who was active a while back – you can still see him at the end of the ol’ FrEnTiKaNa collabo vid)…he made a rly nice shoot of a Tally-Ho Ace of spades on a roulette table.
So we made all pics together (his idea was the line in my picture / my idea was the line in his one)…I like his picture more than mine =P but anyway just to let you guys know – there will come a lot more damn nice pictures this weekend, some are maybe nicer than those but we made our decision…hope you like ‘em!

Mine was ‘Reach for the Wynn’.
I heard that Wynns are as good as Jerry’s Nuggets, and since there’s no way I’ll ever get Jerry’s I might get Wynns :D so I launched my Photoshop 7 and did a little something showing even the buried ones crave for the Wynn.
Living in a place where they don’t sell Bikes, only lame plastic cards that brake when springing them I had to order basic bicycle cards from eBay. That was about 8 months ago and to this day I’m still using my first deck (It’s so worn it wont get into it’s box anymore :O) So winning a new deck of cards, and such great cards, would be like bringing the ape man a lighter.
I just want to add that I’ve seen many photos much much better than mine so I’d like to wish all the contestants good luck.
March 1st, 2008 at 9:42 am
mine was called
‘A TNR with a difference’
what i was going for was a picture where the flames could mean something, and i was lucky enough to get them in a rough shape of 11.. i dont own photoshop, so i couldnt put on any really good effects but everything in the picture was actually done, no fake flames!
thanks, and good luck to everyone else, i know i wont win but its been fun! :D

My picture was taken this week in a nature area, just before entering a restricted zone. You see the king of hearts standing on top of a wooden pile, that has barbed wire next to it; with a lake and kinda dark clouds on the background.
I like the picture because it symbolizes the contrast between the beautiful nature and the imprissoned world (the barbed wire). Also, I thought this was one of the nicest looking places in that area. I hope theCuso and you guys like it too :)
My friend ‘Elayah’ (same story as Tical: this is actually a real person :P) also submitted a picture, taken in the same area, but this time it’s a close-up picture of the king of hearts. He is sitting there, on the roots of a tree, which are covered whith moss, besides the mushrooms growing there. I love this photo because of the sharpness for such a close-up picture, taken with a quite cheap cam xD
Both pictures were not (computer) edited in any way, so no photoshop used here! :D
Cheers,
~Morphweasel~ & – Elayah -

My nickname is Blunk and I posted “Just Rip It”. It’s more of a funny picture, kind of ironic showing how crazy Jordan is (Thanks ALOT), and how easy is to make someone go crazy while seeing this. Hope you like it, I’m not expecting any prizes, there are lots of people in it. Good luck to everyone, and SCristian :).

I wanted to keep my photo as simple as possible. In my opinion it’s all about being professional.
If You zoom in my photo You will notice that it has some weird spirit to it… at least in my opinion :)
There are 150 picture- and You have a hard choice, but please consider my photo while choosing the WYNNer :)
cheers- tytan…

My nickname on the forum is ‘clopper’. As instructed on your post here are the reasons why I chose to design as I did.
People always say to me, ‘wow, you must take a deck of cards everywhere with you!’
To that I always respond, ‘the deck of cards has literally become an extension to of my hand!’
The picture shows the cards in my hand, after all, this is where the always are. The cards enable me to perform miracles for people, to take people to places they have never been, hence the background of my picture: a nebula – literally out of this world!
Many thanks. Paul (clopper)

my pic said ewareofghouls but it was bewareofghouls so sorry if i’ve made a mistake in the mail.Anyways I wanted my pic to make clear that cards are weapons in the right hands. Not as in to kill people. But more the moment that you do XCM or magic and people are like: how did he do that, or the moment people are overwhelmed about how you can handle cards. It changes peoples vision on cards, after you performed for them they will probably never forget that. you stabbed them right under their nose, that’s why the card is stuck in the hand. Or for the people that don’t like to see the pic in a serious way, you can also see it as just a pic that shows how extreme we are with the cards =P sorry for my english by the way, im dutch=P

I posted this twice, because something went wrong with the nickname, so just to make sure the message is here. my pic said ewareofghouls but it was bewareofghouls so sorry if i’ve made a mistake in the mail.Anyways I wanted my pic to make clear that cards are weapons in the right hands. I love making photos and videos, and I just can’t find a picture of a Vertigo, although It’s a beautiful move. So I decided to make a picture of mine, and It’s still my favourite picture now.

hope you get it.

Hey, to be honest, i’m not going to spend time creating a persuasive piece of writing. This is due to the fact that i thought this was a photography competition after all!! (which was a GREAT idea by the way!!! =]) Personally i think it would be unfair to include the comments when deciding the WYNNER!! THAT’S WHY I SHALL SAY NOTHING ABOUT MY PICTURE, I SHALL LET IT SPEAK FOR ITSELF!!Anyway, enough of the boring stuff…great competition…love the idea…there should be more of this…good luck to everyone who entered!!!
p.s My picture is the one with me in it…oops (i had to say a little something ;)
good luck…thanks

My picture is called “A thrill of Anticipation”. It#s hard for me to describe my thoughts in English, but I will try to:
I just wanted to express with my floating card that you can touch cards as pieces of paper but you can’t reach all the things that they mean for us and other people, the power of imagination in our minds.

Hola Alex.
Gracias.
Un saludo!
