I originally wrote these tips in an email to my friend Aaron Fisher for his new blog after he requested:
The best thing to drive readers to your blog is to update it twice a day or more. Content is what makes a blog worth reading.
More tips… well try to link, link and link everytime you can. If you are making a blog post, after you write it, try to add as many links as you can into some keywords of your post.
For example, if you are writing about flourishes then use the “flourishes” word as an anchor text to link to the buck’s site. (even if you dont talk about them). This way, everytime you search for flourishes in google, dananddave.com will pop up (you can put my blog instead of their site :P)
If you are talking about coin magic try to find a blog that has a good post you liked about coin magic and link it.
Another thing, and maybe the most important, is that you MUST comment as much as you can in other magic blogs, even if you dont read their entire posts, give your 2 cents in a line or two, this way people will be curious about who said that and they’ll click in your name and get to your blog.
Giveaways for your best readers. You can give some stuff to the people that contribute to your blog by commenting or sending you material to blog about. You can offer some simple effects, pdf downloads or whatever you want, just spread the word and you’ll build up your traffic.
Offer good feed sindication options. A lot of people read blogs using RSS readers or via email. Try to get as many feed readers as you can. Feeds are a great source for visitors.
Another tip is to make reviews of other blogs. I’ll be making some reviews to let people know that there is actually a magic blogsphere and i’ll do my best to make it grow, because i see that a lot of magicians have myspace, friendster, facebook and those kind of things but with your own blog you can have everything you want (videos, pics, text, downloads), and you can customize it however you want and you can even chose to monetize your blog with ads or not.
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or email newsletter. You can also try Twitter if you want to know more about Alejandro Portela. Thanks for visiting!

Very interesting article. I didn’t know there was a Magic Blog Ring around the web, but that’s cool to know! I just have a personal blog with a focus on my hobbies, but I think this entry will translate just fine. I need to find more blogs in my “Niche” anyway. Nice write :)

Although it has nothing to do with this particular post of yours, I decided that I had to tell you at some point how much you’ve insipired me. Your style paired with your skill absolutely blow my mind and that’s what got me into XCM. It was actually on your last birthday that I stumbled across your blog and lo and behold, I’m now addicted to card flourishes just for fun. It’s great to whip out some fun cuts when I’m just playing poker with some friends to impress them. So thanks every so much and keep up the awesome work!
